That put a smile on his face and he sent back a string of emojis. Then he tucked his mobile away, went to the public loo and cleaned up a bit, then set out. Q and that wanker were gone and Hex wasn't thinking terribly clearly. He had the same thought in his head he'd had that night in Scutari when the pain had been unbearable. Now he had his pills in his jacket pocket, but that wasn't what he wanted.

And what he wanted, he shouldn't have.

But he was upset and he hurt and if anyone deserved a drink it was him. That was the thing about addiction- an addict could justify their behaviour in any circumstance. And so rather than stopping to think, rather than pulling out his mobile and calling his sponsor, Hex found the nearest pub. He'd never been in here before and yet it seemed familiar. It felt like coming home. He ordered a pint. Then another. Then another. Before too long he'd lost count and the barmaid was shooing him out. He was cut off and he agreed maybe he was a bit too drunk to be out and about.

Hex caught a cab home and made his way inside. Off with his jacket, shoes, shirt and jeans. All right there by the front door.

"Danny? You home?" he called out.
