Danny

After leaving Fin's Hex had taken his time getting to the tube. He'd waited on the train and every moment that passed made him more and more queasy. He knew he needed to come clean with Danny. He knew he needed to accept responsibility for his actions. But he didn't want to. A big part of him wanted to go on without saying anything at all. Maybe Danny wouldn't notice.

He knew that wasn't true, though.

Danny noticed. Danny knew. He just knew things. It was impossible to lie to him, even moreso since Hex was a shit liar.

He finally came into the house well after dark and took off his jacket. He'd hoped Danny was out getting high but the lights were on and he knew the man was home. No avoiding this any longer, then.

"You home?" he called as he shed his jacket.

"I try me best," Hex replied quietly. He used the soap to make it easier to massage Danny's muscles. He simply enjoyed himself, taking his time as he explored the other man's slick body.

Fin

It was Christmas-time and Hex was so happy. He'd baked and taken the sweets to work to share, he'd put up lights and decorations and he'd bought new ornaments for the tree he and Danny were going to trim. This evening he was out shopping. The sun was just beginning to go down, still early in the day, really, and there was a distinct nip in the air. He had been to Harrod's and he'd been to a few other shops. He had several bags hanging in his gloved hand as he stopped to admire a toy disply, thinking he should get something for his mate Mark's children.

And then he spotted Fin and those thoughts vanished into thin air. He wondered if maybe Fin's magic was weak and his vision useless and the man would pass on by. Hex still didn't know how to make amends and though he'd been working on just that sort of thing in his meetings, Fin was by far the worst of his transgretions and he was at a loss for how to express his deep regret.

First, he thought to himself, you could not be a wanker. You could say something to him and get his attention. Then let him take you as he will. That's his right. Wank.

And so he took a breath.

"-Lo, Fin," he said to the man coming toward him.

Danny

Halloween had been awful, except for Danny asking Hex to move in with him. Now that the fog was gone and Danny was soer and they'd had a real conversation about it, Hex found himself ready to move again. He'd miss spencer's, but Jenna could get on without him, and he'd still check back in to care for the property for Spencer, but this...this was huge. He wanted to do this right. To do right by Danny.

And so he had his few boxes and a large suitcase with him when the cab dropped him off. They were unloaded on the curb and Hex took his suitcase to the door. He tried the knob and it was unlocked so he walked right in.

"Danny?" he called. "I've brought me things..."

Kersen

(from here)

Hex kissed him harder, letting all the shit fall away in favor of pure desire. This was easy, just kissing and touching and not thinking. He knew he had bad habits, awful addictions. He'd drink and fuck his way through London if it meant he didn't have to feel. Didn't have to worry. If he could just give himself over to his wants then he didn't have to ponder the questions like why.

"Fuck, yeah," he murmured between kisses, his fingers pulling Kersen's hair while his other hand skimmed up and down his side.

Danny

Hex was bored and restless, but it seemed any time he went out- to the market to buy food or to a shop for a new book or game- he was increasingly anxious. And it didn't help that on one of his triips to the shops he'd picked up a couple bottles of vodka that he had hidden in his room. He tried to be sensible, drinking when Danny was out only. But some mornings he got up and had a deep swallow before going to brush his teeth.

He'd set out this morning for his therapy appointment but at the corner near the train stop a car backfired and he was instantly awash in cold sweat. His heart hammered in his chest. So he turned round and went home, calling the therapist on the way to cancel. And when he got home he locked up every single lock, armed the alarm system, and then he popped his pain pills. They began to work and he went to the garden, thinking he'd like a cup of coffee. Instead, there were Danny's cigarettes.

Hex had quit in the army when he'd replaced all his vices with physicality and had embraced his sexuality. But sometimes, high stress times, he wanted a fag. And so he pinched one and lit up.

Danny

[from here]

That put a smile on his face and he sent back a string of emojis. Then he tucked his mobile away, went to the public loo and cleaned up a bit, then set out. Q and that wanker were gone and Hex wasn't thinking terribly clearly. He had the same thought in his head he'd had that night in Scutari when the pain had been unbearable. Now he had his pills in his jacket pocket, but that wasn't what he wanted.

And what he wanted, he shouldn't have.

But he was upset and he hurt and if anyone deserved a drink it was him. That was the thing about addiction- an addict could justify their behaviour in any circumstance. And so rather than stopping to think, rather than pulling out his mobile and calling his sponsor, Hex found the nearest pub. He'd never been in here before and yet it seemed familiar. It felt like coming home. He ordered a pint. Then another. Then another. Before too long he'd lost count and the barmaid was shooing him out. He was cut off and he agreed maybe he was a bit too drunk to be out and about.

Hex caught a cab home and made his way inside. Off with his jacket, shoes, shirt and jeans. All right there by the front door.

"Danny? You home?" he called out.

Danny

Moving in had gone smoothly. Danny hadn't had all that many things, really. Once he was set up it was just a matter of learning to adjust to one another's habits and schedules. Hex, for his part, was an early riser, a quick bite to give him some energy and out the door to run for a while. He went his usual route and when he returned home the neck of his shirt was ringed with sweat. He'd set up the coffee pot on a timer there would be some fresh brewed for him when he got back in.

In the moment he hadn't forgotten about Danny...he just kind of forgot about Danny and he began to sing a pop hit as he made his cup, chucked his trainers across the room, and took a seat to cool down.

Spencer - Boxing Day

Hex had been up since 5. He'd gotten in his workout and showered, tidied the house up and prepped things to cook for brunch. He had juice and coffee and tea ready to steep. Eggs and ingredients for a delicious fritata. All he had to do was wait until 10 when Spencer was supposed to arrive. He knew he wouldn't be late. Spencer was never late.

He'd had quite a bit of time to think about Spencer and what was going on between them. And Danny and what was going on between them. Hex was torn and didn't want to lead either of them on, yet he was afraid if he didn't decide who he wanted to go after they would both slip from his grasp. THe truly difficult part was that he really liked them both, just in different ways. It made him wish this wasn't so hard.

He decided to put it out of his mind. At least for now. Who knew...maybe Spencer would see the show he did and decide he was done with him. That could happen, he feared

Spencer

Hex put the still warm cartons away and then rinsed his hands. He padded up the stairs to his room and lingered in the doorway to look at Spencer. His bed was his own, and the tv and game console- so they didn't clutter the main room- but here and there there were touches from Miss Hastings.

"You've always got so many clothes on," he teased. To him it was funny since all he'd put on after his shower was the bottoms.

Fin

Spencer was out and Hex had invited Fin over to show him the flat. Such as it was- not that he could see much. But Hex wanted to give him the tour and let him catch how posh it was.

He'd made up some canapes, not really a meal but plenty to eat, and bite size. Then he tidied up a bit, noticing as he tucked a pair of Spencer's shoes in her room that it smelled really lovely. Posh perfume, posh decor. Part of him believed he didn't deserve to be here. But he was and it was grand.

He kept watch out the window to see when Fin's cab might pull up so he could bring him in.

(no subject)

The cafe wasn't so busy no, but there were a few people about. He'd agreed to dessert- schedules were impossible anymore, so he'd gotten there first and had ordered two strong coffees with sugar and cream and some confection of cream cheese, raspberry, and fried dough topped with cinnamon sugar and served warm with whipped cream.

He couldn't wait to share it.

Val

Hex followed Val through the halls of his home, up the dark polished stairs, and into the bedroom. Once there he took initiative and pulled Val to a stop, touching him gently. For all that he'd confessed his dominant tendencies he was careful and patient.

"What do you like, Val?" he asked softly as he touched him and studied him.

Spencer

The night at the club had been a disaster and Hex had let himself stew until he couldn't stand it. He'd broken it off with Spencer before he'd even known what he was doing. The words had been so quick to come, and even quicker to regret.

It wasn't even as if they saw one another often, but Hex found himself missing Spencer with an acute ache that drooped his shoulders and stole his smile.

And so it was days later and he only hurt more with every passing day. Even though Spencer had said he'd prefer a clean break if they were breaking it off Hex couldn't take it. And at the end of his shift, after he'd changed, Hex pulled out his mobile. He hadn't yet deleted Spencer's information. And so he began to type.

I know you said to not contact you but I miss you and I'm so sorry and I just want to see you and tell you I know I'm an arse and beg you for another chance. I won't push for anything more than you can give but I am sick without you. I miss you.

And then all he could do was wait. He started to walk to the tube stop but he didn't go down. He didn't want to lose signal just in case Spencer decided to text him back.

Logan

Christmas had been lovely, though a bit awkward with Aaron there, then he and Spencer leaving together so early. It had left Hex with Assassin's Creed which was just as Logan had said what with the face glitching. He'd had a good laugh and then gone to bed. And Boxing Day he'd gotten up and gone to work like always. But when he'd gotten off he indulged in what he'd been thinking of all day. He got to work and made up a steamed pudding- cranberry orange as promised with a sweet orange sauce and he'd called Logan. Armed with the treat he'd gone to the Ritz and found the penthouse suite.

"Do you even have Boxing Day in America?" he asked when Logan opened the door- instead of hello. "I brought you a steamed pudding and it's still warm since I took a cab. Come on, let's eat."

Spencer

Hex's attitude had brightened over the past weeks to the point that even the people at the hospital had noticed. No one gave him a hard time when he announced he had a boyfriend, but Caro did wink and nod and made him blush.

This week he'd lucked out and had actually gotten the weekend off...every dog had its day...and he'd made plans with Spencer. Hex had cooked, nothing terribly fancy, just some chicked and some oven baked chips, and he'd set up a new documentary in his queue. He really was itching to go out but he and Spencer had never really discussed...well, he doubted very much he'd get Spencer out to the Hoist and he wasn't too keen on going to a bar.

He met Spencer at the door with a smile, the rich scent of dinner filling his flat. The first impulse was to kiss him but Hex was always very careful, very purposeful when he touched Spencer. The last thing he wanted was to startle him.

Spencer

They'd set another date and Hex was excited. Maybe more excited than he had any right to be. Spencer was a puzzle, to be sure, but Hex felt he was worth working out. He'd done a bit of reading up on Autism and he found some things fit and some didn't so he was left unsure. He reasoned that was a good indication he should stay in nursing and to leave the diagnoses to the doctors.

Spencer was due any minute and Hex had sprang for pizza and some Cokes. He'd set out plates and such and then settled on the sofa to catch up on the sports scores while he waited for Spencer to come round. If only he could stop checking his watch.

Kersen

Hex had been out with his mate Mark. They'd been to the gym to work out and then had gone for dinner. Hex had his favorite falafel place and Mark went along because of the two of them, Hex knew where to find the best food. They were out a bit later than either of them had meant to be and when Mark's mobile went off they looked at one another and laughed.

"The missus?" Hex asked.

"Yeah," Mark replied. "I'd better go. You want a ride home, mate?"

"Nah, that's alright. I've tied you up long enough. Go home, I'll take the tube."

Mark smiled at him and they parted ways. Hex decided to indulge in a little baklava before he started off for the underground stop.

He was passing a bar when a woman rushed out. She looked up and down the street, her mobile pressed to her ear.

"...having a heart attack, i think. The medics are on their way but I don't know what to do. We're at Jazzmin..."

He heard that and though he hadn't been into a bar in quite some time but he didn't hesitate to hurry inside. There was a man on the floor and the bartender was with him doing CPR. Hex rushed forward to help out, letting the woman know he was a nurse and he set about taking over compressions. Soon enough the medics arrived and he stepped back out of the way. By the time it was all over his heart was pounding and adrenaline rushed through his system.

"Come on, hero, I'll set you up with a drink," the bartender said, smiling at him. "On the house."

"Just a Diet Coke, yeah?" he said as he followed her to the bar.
