Nyx and Hex
Days had passed and the initial shock ebbed. A shaky peace settled over the pod village as the survivors came together to secure their safety until rescue came. Hex had helped out in medical and he'd helped out scouting for food, he'd helped out putting the dwellings up. But when he was done feeling useful, he'd gladly adopted Nyx's habit of napping naked at any time of day.
He'd come home with some food, but had set it aside, stripped, and settled in the nest with the thought that when Nyx came home, they could eat together.
His last thought before his eyes drooped shut.

"Most people like to play naked," Nyx grinned, rutting against Hex's thigh a little. "But we can do as you please."
no subject
Hex gasped and lifted to meet him as Nyx ground close. Fingers clutched at him as his cheeks flushed pink.
"I thought you meant...ball," he said, a bit weak and breathless.
no subject
"What is ball? Is it fun?" Nyx asked, kissing the other man's shoulder. "Is it fun?"
no subject
no subject
"Boring. Unless you're catching me," Nyx purred. "I run very fast though."
no subject
"I know you do," he smiled. "I'd try to catch you, though. I'd ctch you, and then I'd..."
He caught him and twisted, pinning him a little, easily broken, but he wasn't interested in holding Nyx at all. He only wanted to be able to suck kisses along his neck.
no subject
Nyx laughed brightly, a sharp contrast to his once aggressive and guarded behaviour.
"If you catch me though, you have to keep me," he warned.
no subject
"Ohhh, make no mistake...I'm keeping you forever," he promised, his voice soft and low as his kisses came slower and his hands squeezed him enough to make his point.
"You won't be rid of me easy, yeah? Swear," he promised.
no subject
"Good, because I will keep you too," Nyx purred. "You are mine now. My Hex mine."
no subject
"I like that. I like how that sounds," he said, his skin prickling all over with want.
He kissed nyx one more time, then moved back enough to look at him.
"I love you," he told him. "So much."
no subject
"Love is a heavy word for some," Nyx said. "I love you too though, you live in my heart now."
no subject
Hex took a breath, long and slow, and a smile began to spread.
"I love that you have to tell me. I don't feel you the way I feel others. It's...exciting. Unpredictable."
no subject
"Does it upset you?" Nyx asked curiously. He thought it might upset him to lose such a gift around someone.
no subject
"No," he answered. "Not a bit. I like it. Truly."
He paused for a moment, then looked away.
"It's not great, knowing what people feel."
no subject
"I would think it would make it easier to control them," Nyx said, tilting his head a bit.
no subject
"Not really. Not when you feel it, too. It takes years to learn to control it," he explained, taking the time while he spoke to trace lines on Nyx's skin.
"I spent my whole life learning how to keep people out. And you? Are effortless. You are so easy to be with."
no subject
Nyx purred a bit more, then gently tugged Hex down for a kiss. He felt safe with Hex in a way he'd forgotten he could.
no subject
Hex lost himself for a long moment, delighting in kissing Nyx and touching him. He'd never pictured himself so carnal. It was simply not like this on Betazed, the casual touching, the easy affection.
Hex was living for it.
"I don't need to feel what you do to know what it is. There is a way to share with one who isn't an empath, a sacred thing, only for an imzadi. If you ever wanted to feel me like that, I think...I think I would welcome you," he said, soft and a bit shy.
He knew Nyx wouldn't truly understand the implications of what he was offering. No one could possibly truly understand unless they'd been raised on Hex's world.
no subject
"What does that mean?" Nyx asked, watching Hex with those wide, intense eyes. "Tell me. Explain in ways I understand."
no subject
Hex sat up then and took a breath. It was clear he was thinking through how to explain it.
"My empathy is part of me, of my people. Others simply don't have the ability. But if we are close enough, in heart and mind, in body and breath, even without the ability, I can share with you how I...how I feel everyday."
He hesitated and shrugged.
"You're perceptive enough of what I can do. When you first came, it annoyed you. But it can be...so good. But it's sacred. I've never done it with anyone."
no subject
"I don't want it," Nyx said quickly, almost defensively. He didn't like feeling his own feelings, he couldn't imagine feeling someone else's as well. To him that sounded like torture.
"Please," he added awkwardly, not wanting to be rude.
no subject
But now Nyx knew. Knew it was a possibility. Knew Hex was willing to open himself entirely.
"It's a big thing. Big like...marriage, sort of, I guess. Did your people marry?" he asked, then shifted. "I have so many questions of what your life was like."
no subject
"My kin don't marry... Didn't marry. We live in groups. Sometimes people float between groups. Many make it so you are never alone. Many make it so we can care for our young," he explained, trying to find the right words. "Even as a royal, we mixed with others. Some Nobel, some not... We would sleep in piles, sharing beds, and bodies. It was rare to see two alone together."

no subject
"Yes, I imagine so," Nyx nodded, looking thoughtful.
