Nyx
Nyx had made up with Willy. That was fine. Hex had all but shoved Nyx at the sidhe. He saw him getting sad. He could smell his misery. All he wanted was for Nyx to be better. To be loved.
And he was pleased when he came over to note the scent in the air had changed a bit. He could smell them both and smiled.
The smile faded fast as he lifted the folder.
"The reason I've come," he said, showing Nyx as he walked in and then closed and locked the door.
"Keep that locked at all times, yeah?" he said firmly. "You've been busy, so I haven't bothered you, but you can know now. Sit?"
He nodded at the sofa, knowing this was going to upset Nyx.

Hex smiled brightly and nodded, then left Nyx there and raced off to get the treat. He kept looking back, checking to see the nymph was safe.
He bought two, certain he'd eat them both, but one he intended to give Nyx.
While he collected them, he completely lost track of Nyx.

Nyx, however, was just wandering in the garden, smoking and admiring the flowers. This strange slice of what was almost home, in the place he'd chosen to settle in- And none of it felt right. Nowhere ever felt right. Sometimes Nyx felt like he'd never find a place to call home, doomed to be out of place no matter how hard he tried to settle.

By the time Hex had his treats in hand, he turned and couldn't see Nyx at all. He couldn't see him, so he paused to sniff the wind and couldn't smell him, either.
Panic gripped him.
"Nyx!" he shouted loudly, taking off to where he'd last seen the nymph.

Nyx hadn't gone far though, and there was no one else around.
"What are you shouting about?" he asked, coming around from the small bush that might have obscured him from Hex's view.
no subject
"Oh my god, I thought you got snatched," he gushed, rushing to him.
"And the wind is wrong. I can smell you now," he continued once he was closer. "Want one?"
He offered the one that wasn't already mostly gone.
no subject
"No thanks. ...And honestly, Hex, I'm stronger than I look. You don't have to worry, yeah?" Nyx said gently.
no subject
"I do, whether I have to or not," he told him. "You don't even know what sort of mail you get. People are weird, Nyx, and you have me to keep you safe."
no subject
"I can guess," Nyx said. "You act like I've never driven a man half-mad with lust for fun before. I know exactly how brutal they can get, I've heard the threats, seen the looks in their eyes..."
no subject
Hex nodded.
"I still worry," he said. "I love you."
Most of Nyx's ice cream went into his mouth, then.
no subject
"You're sweet," was all Nyx said to that, leaning over and kissing Hex on the cheek again. "Just relax. Enjoy your ice cream."
