Corbin
Hex had been sneaking texts to Corbin in between patients. The man wasn't answering, probably working, so he sent one more message.
I'll be home after 8. Going to gym. Maybe I'll see you <3
He couldn't get enough of the other man. He wanted to see him all the time. He was always on Hex's mind.
He hit the gym and did his usual circuit, then showered. That was when he checked his phone to see if he'd be alone tonight.

Hex watched him and his brows drew together in concern.
"I just want to be good for you," he said. "It's...important."
no subject
"I know," Corbin assured him. "It's nice you care."
He just didn't know what to do with that care.
no subject
"I want to learn everything about you, yeah?" Hex said, leaning in to kiss him.
"I've never been patient..."
no subject
"I've never been free," Corbin replied. "I should be excited. ...But I'm not. What if I'm not ready to be free?"
no subject
"I don't know," he replied.
"When I got out of the army, I went a bit mad. No one telling me what to do. It was frightening. It's not the same, I know..." he finished, feeling stupid for saying it.
no subject
"How did you get over it?" Corbin asked softly.
no subject
Hex was quiet for a moment, trying to decide what to say.
"I met a man who took me under his wing. A mentor, like. He helps me a lot."
There was a beat.
"He's like a father."
no subject
"Oh," Corbin said softly.
It wasn't like he could just pop out and find one of those for himself, he supposed.
"That's good."
no subject
"He gave me direction. I'm not saying you need a dad. Just direction. You'd still be free, but not alone," he said. "Someone to catch you when you fall, yeah?"
Hex pulled him close.
"I'll be here," he offered. "You don't need to be afraid."
no subject
"I'm not. ...I mean, I am, but I'm not afraid when I'm with you, you know?" Corbin said softly.
no subject
"Good. Then tonight, after work, we'll go to a club with a plan. Not just whatever, yeah? I'll be thinking about it all day..." he assured him.
no subject
"Alright," Corbin agreed, though he seemed unsure. He wasn't good at planning, he was better at just doing as he was told- But he supposed that was something he needed to learn.

Hex kissed him one more time, satisfied with that. He'd figure Corbin out. He'd be good.
And the other man would never forget him.
"We're both going to be late..."
no subject
"Right, yes, sorry. I'll see you out, yes?" he offered with a smile.
no subject
"It's going to feel like forever at work," he sighed.
no subject
"Forever is but a moment," Corbin promised, giving him one last kiss. "See you later, love."
