Nyx and Hex

Days had passed and the initial shock ebbed. A shaky peace settled over the pod village as the survivors came together to secure their safety until rescue came. Hex had helped out in medical and he'd helped out scouting for food, he'd helped out putting the dwellings up. But when he was done feeling useful, he'd gladly adopted Nyx's habit of napping naked at any time of day.

He'd come home with some food, but had set it aside, stripped, and settled in the nest with the thought that when Nyx came home, they could eat together.

His last thought before his eyes drooped shut.

"I went swimming," Nyx admitted. "I like swimming, even when my ears get wet."

His ears twitched a bit, as though remembering the water, and he purred a bit louder as he finally settled against Hex's chest.

Hex enjoyed holding him for a long moment, listening to him.

"It scares me," he admitted. "Swimming. I can't."

"I would teach you," Nyx offered. "I swim well. You just float, then move," he added, unintentionally admitting he would not, actually, be a good teacher.

Hex smiled at that.

"It's not that," he said. "I imagine things in the water. Frighten meself, yeah?"

"Well, things do live in water. Things that sting, things that bite... But it's nice anyway. Mostly," Nyx said with a happy little rumble.

[just_hex]

Hex's mind wandered to all the slimy, squirmy, biting things and when Nyx purred, he shivered.

"Ugh, awful," he said.

Nyx seemed amused, slipping an arm around Hex's middle.

"Bitey little fishes, pinching little claws..."

[just_hex]

Hex shuddered again, but laughed just a little.

"Quit it," he said, then laughed a bit harder and pulled Nyx into an embrace.

"How can you stand it?" he asked, smiling now. "Braver than me, yeah?"

"Bravest," Nyx agreed with a little growl of approval. "No fear."

[just_hex]

"I love that," Hex said, his laughter fading.

"You really are, yeah? No laughs. You really are the bravest person I know."

[tempting_the_fates]

Nyx settled in, his head on Hex's chest and hand on his hip.

"I am," he agreed after a moment. "I'm the bravest person I know too. ...But you are the kindest," he said quietly.

Hex smiled brightly, his eyes alight with affection as he took hold of Nyx's face in both hands and kissed him tenderly.

Nyx purred excitedly into the kiss, always happy when Hex was willing to give him attention.

"You taste sweet," he whispered.

[just_hex]

"Taste again," he whispered back.

Hex shifted his hold and rolled a little, settling comfortably so he could enjoy Nyx's lips more.

Nyx kissed his lips, his nose, his jaw... Before settling in again and purring happily to himself.

"I want to play," he said, nipping at Hex's chest. "Do you want to play? Or should we be lazy and sleep until our stomachs growl?"

[just_hex]

"You make me want to play," he smiled, his touch slow and lazy while interest lit his eyes.

"Is it something I need to put on shoes for?"

[tempting_the_fates]

"Most people like to play naked," Nyx grinned, rutting against Hex's thigh a little. "But we can do as you please."

[just_hex]

Hex gasped and lifted to meet him as Nyx ground close. Fingers clutched at him as his cheeks flushed pink.

"I thought you meant...ball," he said, a bit weak and breathless.

"What is ball? Is it fun?" Nyx asked, kissing the other man's shoulder. "Is it fun?"

[just_hex]

"Mmm, yeah. It's fun. Not this kind of fun. Running...throwing...catch-catching," Hex replied, doing his best to speak while Nyx's lips stole every thought out of his head.

[tempting_the_fates]

"Boring. Unless you're catching me," Nyx purred. "I run very fast though."

[just_hex]

"I know you do," he smiled. "I'd try to catch you, though. I'd ctch you, and then I'd..."

He caught him and twisted, pinning him a little, easily broken, but he wasn't interested in holding Nyx at all. He only wanted to be able to suck kisses along his neck.

Nyx laughed brightly, a sharp contrast to his once aggressive and guarded behaviour.

"If you catch me though, you have to keep me," he warned.

[just_hex]

"Ohhh, make no mistake...I'm keeping you forever," he promised, his voice soft and low as his kisses came slower and his hands squeezed him enough to make his point.

"You won't be rid of me easy, yeah? Swear," he promised.

"Good, because I will keep you too," Nyx purred. "You are mine now. My Hex mine."
