Nyx
The moon would be full in two days and Hex was coming out of his skin. He knew Nyx could take a lot, but Hex had genuine concerns he might fuck him to death. Or pick a fight. He was so agitated that he decided to hit the gym hard and let Nyx get some much needed rest. His plan was to come home with dinner. He was on the treadmill having sick fantasies about a rotisserie chicken and a baguette.
When he felt a bit better, a bit of energy burnt off between a run and a lot of weights, Hex hit the shower and cleaned up to head home to Nyx. He stopped on the way to buy some flowers from a street vendor for Nyx and was admiring them when a woman came close. He heard her, then smelled her, then turned to look into frightened eyes.
Help me she mouthed at him and his senses went on high alert. All that time in the gym was for nothing. He gave her a nod and started scanning behind her. He didn't need to search. A chavvy bloke with stubble and a stupid hat walked up boldly, not even half Hex's size.
"You dumb bitch, get back here," he said, close enough to reach for her. Hex remembered strong arming her behind him and stepping forward...

Nyx's phone rang, the ID flashing Police. Hex sat by the sergeant's desk in cuffs, wrists and ankles, and those connected by a chain so short he needed to lean forward.
"I can try Dess again, Hex," the man offered. "I think it might go to voicemail. Do you have a third try?"
Hex heard the tone ring again, his stomach squirming.
"No, he'll answer," he wished.

"Hello?" he greeted. He'd fallen asleep in Willy's bed, but the other fae seemed to have left early.
no subject
"Oh! You were right," said a surprised voice.
"Told you," came from Hex in the background.
"Yes. Yes, hello. We have Thomas Schofield in custody. Are you available to retrieve him?" the officer asked. "He must be remanded to a responsible party until his trial."
"Don't be so serious, mate," Hex laughed. "You'll scare him!"
no subject
Nyx couldn't find any humor in it though.
"I can get him," he said, though he sounded unsure. "I'm sorry, what, exactly, happened?" he asked.
no subject
Though Nyx couldn't see, the pair exchanged glances. Hex didn't really remember, but there were plenty of witnesses.
"He, ah, thwarted a domestic. On the street, you see. And Mr. Schofield, erm, detained the bloke in such a way we, erm...it required questioning."
Hex gave the officer a sorrowful look and shook his head.
"I beat a bastard and tied him up because a girl asked for help," he shouted at the phone.
no subject
"...Okay," Nyx said, not exactly eager to go to the police station. "Um, what do I need to bring?" he asked as he forced himself out of bed and started to get dressed.
no subject
Nyx got all the instructions he needed, and then Hex only needed to wait. Thankfully, they kept him in the office, by the desk, and out of the cells. That was simply asking for some dead loudmouth.
"Here, mate," he heard and saw a container of chicken fingers appear in his lap.
"Bang-gon," he grinned. "Thanks, Pete."
He was eating chicken when Nyx arrived.

Nyx was guided through it all, told where to sign and what would happen, then eventually taken over to Hex.
"This was a new experience. Not really one I was itching to have though. ...Are you alright?"
no subject
"We kept trying Dess. I'm really sorry," he said.
He paused to grab the last door for Nyx.
"I'm not sorry I did it, though. Not any of the times."
no subject
"Oh. ...And how often does it happen?" Nyx asked quietly as they made their way outside.
no subject
"Every month it's a risk. Last month I was in bed with you too much to run into anyone. And some months I don't get arrested, but Tom told me this time I tied him to the bollard with me athletic tape after he went limp, so the police had time to arrive," he explained.
"And the bird was begging for help. What am I supposed to say? No?"
From his pocket he produced a napkin with one more piece of chicken.
no subject
"It's just... A lot, Hex. Even if it's for good, it's a lot," Nyx said. "I'm just glad you're okay."
no subject
"I don't mean for it to happen," he sighed. "I thought between you all night and the gym most of the day, I...wouldn't."
no subject
"Maybe we should look into potions. Something to help you control the wolf a bit more?" Nyx suggested gently. "I think I've heard of such things. Just something to help mellow you out a little."
no subject
Hex stopped in his tracks.
"There's potions?!" he asked in shock.
no subject
"Sure. I mean, there's potions for everything, isn't there?" Nyx shrugged. "There won't be a fae one, but I'd be shocked if the wizards didn't have one or two."
no subject
"Oh, I don't know any wizards," he said, just a little too quickly.
"But that'd be nice, not coming apart," he continued. "I really do try to control it."
no subject
"Probably can't stop you turning, just maybe make it better, you know?" Nyx said.
no subject
"You'd get a break, too," he said, his smile just a bit embarrassed.

Hex closed Nyx's hand in his own and smiled as they walked on.
"You'll get one in a couple nights. Will I be in your bed again? The way you did?" he asked.
no subject
"If you like, I don't mind. It's easy enough to make a cage, and you slept sound," Nyx nodded. "I can put in a few more pillows even, maybe something I've worn if you want more scent... That seemed to calm you before."
no subject
"It's so weird to hear you say that. I don't remember anything after I change, but everyone's always said I'm wild. Dangerous. Funny that you make the wolf go to bed," he chuckled.
no subject
"Willy said it was weird. I don't think so though, I think it's just proof we care about each other," Nyx decided.
no subject
"It's a bit weird. There's lore about those who can tame a wolf," he told him.
no subject
"What sort of lore?" Nyx asked, not even sure where they were headed. Home? Back to Hex's? He supposed it didn't matter much, as long as they were together.
