Christmas had been lovely, though a bit awkward with Aaron there, then he and Spencer leaving together so early. It had left Hex with Assassin's Creed which was just as Logan had said what with the face glitching. He'd had a good laugh and then gone to bed. And Boxing Day he'd gotten up and gone to work like always. But when he'd gotten off he indulged in what he'd been thinking of all day. He got to work and made up a steamed pudding- cranberry orange as promised with a sweet orange sauce and he'd called Logan. Armed with the treat he'd gone to the Ritz and found the penthouse suite.
"Do you even have Boxing Day in America?" he asked when Logan opened the door- instead of hello. "I brought you a steamed pudding and it's still warm since I took a cab. Come on, let's eat."

Date: 2014-12-25 06:45 am (UTC)Hex was quiet for a moment, focusing on his juice most intently for no reason. Then he shrugged.
"He won't go. And I...I think he might be, erm, losing interest. He seems to be quite fond of his friend Aaron I've come to realize."

Date: 2014-12-25 06:58 am (UTC)"...Oh," Logan said awkwardly. "Well, uh- His loss, right? I mean- I dunno. Maybe he's just not ready to settle down or whatever. Or, I dunno... Whatever. I don't know the guy, I can't judge, but you seem like a good guy, Hex. If you don't end up with him, you'll find someone else, alright?"

Date: 2014-12-25 07:01 am (UTC)"He's me first real...well, whatever it is. Boyfriend? I think I though it might be more than it was, but he was clear about not being ready to settle down so I've no one to blame but meself," he shrugged. "He's lovely, though. Really lovely."
It was so apparent Hex was truly smitten with Spencer and more than a little crushed that things seemed to be not working out.

Date: 2014-12-25 07:06 am (UTC)"Maybe that's the problem. You thought it was more than it was- It's easy to push too hard. To try and make people be what you want. ...You have to let it happen naturally, man- Or it never happens at all. ...But if you like him- If you want him? Don't give up. Seriously, just- try a new approach," Logan replied, sounding very much like the voice of experience.

Date: 2014-12-25 07:08 am (UTC)He really did sound like a voice of experience, so much so that Hex could only nod. Then he returned to the pudding to dish up a portion and drizzle it with orange sauce.
"I'm not sure if this pairs with beer. Maybe it will," he chuckled. "It's quite good. See if you like it."

Date: 2014-12-25 07:15 am (UTC)Logan took the offered treat, tasting it, then nodding his approval.
"It's really good- You made this? Like, you cooked it from scratch?"
no subject
Date: 2014-12-25 07:16 am (UTC)"I did. I like to cook and I try not to eat processed foods," he said. "I'll eat it sometimes. but most often I cook everything from scratch."

Date: 2014-12-25 07:23 am (UTC)"A regular Rachael Ray, huh?" Logan laughed. "I never cook. It's always seemed like too much work, you know? So much easer to have someone else cook it for you."
no subject
Date: 2014-12-25 07:25 am (UTC)"I'll cook for you," he said, then smiled nervously and set about dishing up his own, praying Logan didn't take that as a come on, but rather the genuine offer it was meant as. It was only after he'd said it that Hex realized how flirtatious it sounded.

Date: 2014-12-25 07:37 am (UTC)Logan had a sharp reply waiting on his tongue- But he could see Hex was embarrassed, and that was enough to make him bite it back.
"Don't make offers like that, man- I'll have you chained up in my kitchen," he said instead.
no subject
Date: 2014-12-25 07:41 am (UTC)That only made him blush a bit more as he thought of chains in a way he was sure Logan didn't intend. But given Hex's tastes he couldn't help but think of chains in a certain way.
"Yeah, sure," he replied, trying to laugh it off. "What should we do tonight, mate? Games? Or a film? What do you fancy?"

Date: 2014-12-25 07:51 am (UTC)"Whatever you want, man. I'm easy," he shrugged, putting his feet up as he took a swig of beer. "You were the one who wanted to hang- So you must have had something in mind."

Date: 2014-12-25 08:00 am (UTC)"I thought was could play a bit since you've got the console. I brought Call of Duty if you're interested," he said hopefully. He kind of wanted to get caught up in a bit of fantasy violence and forget about Spencer for the night.

Date: 2014-12-25 08:05 am (UTC)"Sounds good, let's do it," he grinned. "I bet I'll kick your ass though."

Date: 2014-12-25 08:10 am (UTC)"Hardly," he laughed. "All I do is work, keep fit, and play games. I'll kick yours back to America." He was teasing, of course. Hex ate his pudding, only half the amount he'd given Logan, and went to his coat pocket to pull out the game.
"I've got tomorrow off so I can stay up late tonight to play. So when you're ready for bed just toss me out, yeah?"
no subject
Date: 2014-12-25 10:32 pm (UTC)"You can stay if you want," Logan shrugged. "It's not like there isn't room."

Date: 2014-12-25 10:40 pm (UTC)"Bang on," Hex grinned. "Yeah, this place is nice. I've never been in a suite before. I can see how they'd take care of you here. Laundry and food and such."
It was nothing Hex could even dream of.

Date: 2014-12-26 12:59 am (UTC)"Yeah, it's pretty good," Logan shrugged.

Date: 2014-12-26 09:00 am (UTC)"Pretty good? Mate, I should have you over to mine. Then you'll think yours is all the more grand," he replied. "But if your dad's an actor you're probably used to the finer things, yeah? Proper posh life?"
He was only asking, more interested in savoring little bites of his pudding than honestly discussing money. He thought about how odd it was that Americans didn't sound any more or less posh when they were well off. He could hear the difference in the quality of his accent compared to some of the doctors at St. Bart's who had clearly come from money.

Date: 2014-12-27 09:02 am (UTC)"I knew a rich bloke when I was in the Army. He was an officer so it wasn't as if we were mates, but we talked from time to time," Hex said, knowing his perception was truly skewed. "But I grew up with me nan in Liverpool. Me dad worked the docks til he died, and she was a pensioner. It was always tight for me."

Date: 2014-12-27 05:08 pm (UTC)Loan had softened slightly over the last year or so- But not enough to feel bad for the guy. Logan came from a world of haves and have nots, and he honestly was just glad to be in one category rather than the other.
"Guess we wont be planning ski vacations and going car shopping together then," he said with a casual shrug.

Date: 2014-12-27 09:24 pm (UTC)To Hex's mind he was fairly well off. He had his savings from the service- not a lot to buy in the desert- and he made bloody good money as a full nurse. He lived modestly because it was how he'd been raised between his savings and what he knew his pension was...
"I reckon it's rude to talk about money, yeah? But if you wanted to go skiing I could swing that. I don't know how to ski, though, that's the problem. As for cars? I don't know if you've noticed the traffic in the city but you'd be better off hiring a car than trying to park. Just a suggestion."

Date: 2014-12-27 10:22 pm (UTC)"I like having my own wheels," Logan said, shaking his head a bit. "It's freeing."

Date: 2014-12-27 10:25 pm (UTC)"I've never owned a car. They had to teach me to drive the ambulance when i was being trained in the Army," Hex replied. All the differences between his life and Logan's were so striking and they amused him to no end.
