He'd thought he was alright with this. Being mates. Being lovers. He'd thought he would be alright.

But he missed Nyx. Even when they were together, even when they were in bed, it felt like something was gone.

He knew what it was. Nyx didn't want him to be his Keeper. His heart had broken a bit, and it still ached.

Another miserable day at work, another miserable dinner.

Hex was laying in bed, wide awake, lost in worry, when Nyx came in. Before the Nymph could even put his things down, Hex sat up.

"I need to be your Keeper again," he said plainly.

"What do I need to do to get you to come back?" followed, much more tenderly.

"I think you're lovely, Hex," Nyx said softly. "I want to be with you- Not because you keep me, but because we are in love."

For a moment his heart stopped and constricted. In that moment, he forgot how to breathe.

Part of him didn't believe it could be true.

A bigger part of him hoped it was.

"Really?" Hex asked softly. Because I love you, Nyx. Madly."

"I don't lie about such things," Nyx said softly.

Suddenly, Nyx was much to far away. Hex was pulled in by his gravity, though, and pulled the nymph to his chest.

"I'll still take care of you," he promised. "Keeper or not."

"I'd like that. Anyone would be lucky to be in your care, Hex," Nyx purred, resting against him and holding on tighter.

"I don't want anyone. I want you," he said softly.

Hex cradled his face and searched Nyx's dark eyes for a moment before kissing him with every ounce of care in him. He kissed him, long and tender, his heart beating faster.

Nyx purred loudly into the kiss,holding him tighter and arching against him.

Yes, this was good. Loved, wanted, and free.

Hex's kiss lingered, but he finally stopped, only barely pulling away.

"I love that sound you make," he admitted with a bashful smile.

"Some find it unsettling," Nyx admitted.

[just_hex]

He moved back a little more so he could touch his cheek again. He could see how people might be unsettled by Nyx. His eyes. His skin. His angles.

He wasn't human...and Hex truly loved it.

"I like it. I like you. Like this. I...you're so beautiful."

"I'm glad you like me as I am. I worried... I worried you might reject this version of me. My true self," he confessed.

[just_hex]

"Not at all," he replied softly, then flicked his tongue to wet his lips.

"Is it bad I like it better? I like how you're...more real. Yourself. I like it..."

The way he caressed Nyx as he spoke said more than his weak words.

"It's not bad- I'm flattered. I'm glad I am able to be my true self with you, Hex," Nyx said softly.

Hex flashed a brief smile, then leaned into kiss him.

"I think you're perfect. Just the way you are," he said softly. "My Nyx..."

He kissed him again, but first on his jaw. Then his brow. Then finally, softly, on the lips again.

Nyx continued to purr, basking in the attention and affection.

"My Hex," he said quietly.

Hearing that sparked inside him and flared to life. His hands grew less gentle, grabbing and pulling at him to haul him close. Hex kissed him again, deeper, but hungry and slow.

Nyx nearly overwhelmed his senses. The way he tasted. How he smelled. Every little sound he made. He knew it was the magic, but he chose to ignore it. He liked it better if he thought their connection was genuinely that strong.

"Take me to bed," Nyx whispered. "Take me to bed, Hex. I want to lay with my lover."

[just_hex]

Hex broke away from the kiss and began pulling Nyx to the bed while also trying to strip him bare.

"You consume me, yeah?" Hex said softly. "You're the only thing I care about."

[prince_of_nymphs]

"I like that, I like the idea of being in your blood, in your bones," Nyx purred, moving with him and clawing at him, eager to see him bare.

[just_hex]

Hex reached back and peeled his shirt off, dropping it so he could pull Nyx against his bare chest.

"In me blood," he agreed, kissing him hungrily on the way to the bed.

Nyx let his magic flow, holding on tight as he let his power wrap around Hex, drowning him in pleasure and greedy desire. He felt safe doing so with Hex- Only Hex. Hex was the first being he trusted deeply enough to truly unleash his magic, and the strange darkness woven into it.

It truly did feel like Nyx was inside him, pulsing through his veins. His mind flashed with ideas of all the things he could do.

Tender things.

Wicked things.

Hex gripped the nymph's ribs, then roughly shoved him onto the bed.

And slowly pulled his belt free. A darkness burned in his gaze.

"Pick me. Every time you got a choice...pick me. That's what I want. Not your Keeper. Just a promise. Pick me."

[prince_of_nymphs]

Nyx watched him with those dark, inky looking eyes.

"I choose you. I have long since chosen," he murmured, purring louder. "My Hex, my lover, I claim you as mine, always."

He tugged the man closer, lifting up off the bed just enough to kiss him again, as though desperate to taste him.

[just_hex]

In a flash, Hex was bare and pushing Nyx back to the bed, following him down.

"That's all I want. That's all I've ever wanted," he said.

He laid half on him, pinning him to the bed. A hand caught his wrist and dragged it up to press it into the pillow above his head.

Nyx was still and calm, watching him as he relaxed beneath his hold.

"I love you."
